Choose Your Kitchen Style: The Exact Guide

The kitchen is the heart of the home - which is why sometimes it can be so hard to choose the right style.

Deciding on the overall style is the first step in the process, and once decided, there are almost endless options for colours, finishes and materials. To help you choose, we have put together a quick guide on the different kitchen styles, to help you decide which is the right one for you.

Handleless Kitchens

Handleless kitchens have seen a rapid resurgence in popularity in recent years, meeting customers' requirements for a smooth, sleek and modern interior. The simplicity of this style will never date, making it an extremely good investment for a new kitchen. Although handleless kitchens are a generally straightforward concept, featuring no handles on the cabinets, cupboards or drawers, there are still several variations to choose from, including:

  • Trendline design, featuring a horizontal opening method.
  • Vertical design, for tall units.
  • Push to open, available in both mechanical and electrical opening systems.

Contemporary Kitchens

Contemporary kitchens are a very popular choice, creating a stylish and minimalist look. The colour palette of contemporary kitchens is often neutral, with pops of colour making a feature at times, whether through soft furnishings, two-tone cabinetry or smart LED colour change lighting. The design ability with contemporary kitchens is almost endless, with the ability to incorporate islands, workstations, breakfast bars and more in a selection of finishes from sleek high-gloss to wood-effect.

Shaker Kitchens

Shaker kitchens are instantly recognisable by their wooden cabinetry, recessed panelled doors and modest style. Born out of a necessity and desire for usefulness and practically over fads and trends in the mid-18th century, shaker kitchens are still universally loved for their timeless style and beautiful design. That being said, shaker kitchens are extremely versatile and look equally as good in matt and even gloss, as they do in wood, and can be made to match a country home or city apartment.
